Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Lymph is the water of interstitial fluid that originates in the body's connective tissue spaces, and the lymphatic system acts as a purification center for the whole body. The lymph contains lymphocytes, macrophages, and other immune cells that break down pathogens, dead cells, cancer cells, mutant cells, and foreign bodies found in the interstitial fluid. The lymph nodes destroy those harmful particles so someone can eventually flush them out of the body. The sluggish or damaged lymph system compromises the immune system since many immune cells are in the lymph tissue.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is very gentle work and is very beneficial:

  • post-operative (lipo, tummy tuck, breast surgery, etc.)

  • extremely relaxing to the parasympathetic nervous system,

  • stimulates the immune system (at the cellular level) for detoxification and elimination of harmful substances,

  • captures and regains protein-rich liquids,

  • move stagnant fluids to improve the tonicity of the skin and muscles, which can help alleviate headaches, migraines, and sinus congestion

  • soothe sprains, muscle spasms, and other trauma, improve range of motion

Manual Lymphatic Drainage, as developed by Dr. Emil Vodder and his wife, is a specialized form of massage therapy designed to stimulate the lymphatic system and encourage the natural drainage of lymphatic fluid. The primary focus of MLD is to promote the circulation and removal of lymph, which plays a crucial role in the body's immune system and fluid balance. MLD emphasizes gentle, rhythmic strokes to move lymphatic fluid through the lymphatic vessels and nodes. It has been widely adopted in healthcare settings and is considered an effective therapy for various lymphatic and circulatory issues.

Dr. Bruno Chikly is a French physician well-known for his work in lymphatic therapy and manual lymphatic drainage (MLD). He has developed his approach to MLD, known as "Lymph Drainage Therapy" (LDT), which focuses on manipulating lymphatic fluid and the lymphatic system to promote health and well-being. Lymph Drainage Therapy by Bruno Chikly incorporates principles from osteopathy, craniosacral therapy, and other manual therapy techniques.

Evguenia has learned both techniques and can tailor the treatment to your needs and goals.
